EDUCATION

2006 - 2009 University of Huddersfield, BA Fine Art

Completed BA Fine Art, specialising in photography
Dissertation entitled ‘Is Fashion Photography an Art Form?’ (6000 words)
This required thorough research of existing literature, detailed discussion of the issues involved and use of appropriate examples taken from my own portfolio and others to support my conclusion
Also completing projects with subjects centered around poverty, politics and climate change.
I obtained a scholarship to attend a week long course of lectures at ‘Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts’ in Singapore. This involved attendance at a series of lectures in Singapore on ‘Approach to Art’ and also delivery of a presentation on my work. This was a competitive scholarship based on my progress and results at University, and submission of a detailed proposal document.

2004 – 2006 Torun College of Art, Poland
Completed two years of a BA in ‘Graphic Design and Photography’

Voluntary role teaching English and Art at Maromboso Primary School in Arusha, Tanzania
This developed my organisational skills, arranging my own travel equipment, international transport and lesson plans
Communication skills were essential for teaching and interacting with the other staff members and children
This also developed my confidence to interact with people from different backgrounds, and my ability to work as part of a team

PRICES, COMPETITIONS

I won a scholarship to Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts in Singapore in July 2008
I have had my photography accepted for exhibition at Leeds Met Gallery and ‘Vault’ gallery in Lancaster
I was selected in Bricks and Mortals photography competition
